My day started at 7:00 am. Today is an unsettling day for me. The LOML is leaving this morning at 9:00 to close on his new home in another state. He’ll be back on Friday for the weekend and the graduation commencements then off to a new career and life. His journey in Florida has ended and he must move on to a new adventure with a PHD in Counseling. I am so happy and proud of him but sad at the same time.
What's a guy to do, but take the Lemon Curd and make a sweet pie to celebrate with him.
I’ll be expecting around 20 guests or so for desserts after a nice lunch at The Fat Tuscan . The party will start at 5:00 and the guests will be mostly his and Blair's Family and a few friends.
The menu will be short and sweet Biscotti de Regina, Almond Biscotti,
Coconut Biscotti, Cassata Sponge Cake, Lemon curd Pie with Almond Cookie Crust. and Panna Cotta, For the beverages I have chosen are a sweet Zinfandel and Spumanti chilled for a hot August afternoon.
To get his departure this morning off my mind, I thought I would get a head start on the sweets for his graduation party this week end. So I started baking the Biscotti today.
They will keep well in the melon jars I have collected from garage sales over the past few years. You know the ones you used to get filled with pasta to give your kitchen that Italian deli look. Oh My God, the fads we go through. This fad made Pier 1 Imports a lot of money a decade ago. You can find them now for about $2.00 still filled with faded pasta and wrapped with a raffia ribbon. Dump the old filling out clean them well and give them a real life.
